Sometimes the smallest variation can lead to larger issues which is why as building inspectors you always have to be vigilant. On the edge of the slab there is a slight indentation and void in the garden stones. Upon further inspection a significantly large void was found.

The void extended 700mm under the slab where it was unsupported. Additional invasive inspections and works were considered essential to provide an accurate assessment of the foundation, slab and rectification methods required.
