Pitfalls of Private Certification

Private certification is common throughout the building industry these days however one thing that certifiers do not check for is quality of workmanship. Having an experienced consultant inspection your home conducting a Handover Inspection can identify both general minor defects, and in some cases can also find more significant structural elements that the builder and certifier have missed.

Recently our Handover Inspection discovered the structural frame support element under this sliding door of the home was unsupported on both sides. This building defect should have been identified for rectification by both the builder and certifier at frame stage. The remedial works to rectify requires a specialist scope of works from an engineer and sign off when the works were complete.

Coastal Home & Building Inspections have extensive industry experience to assist you and ensure your building meets the required standards by providing Slab, Frame & Final Handover Stage Inspections .
