One of the items we are asked to check is waterproofing prior to tiling. The perimeter of wet areas in the home is required to be fully sealed with a waterproof membrane. The most important area where failure occurs is at the doorway particularly on cavity sliding door frames. The waterproofer is required to seal across the door opening with an aluminium angle to prevent any moisture escaping. The picture shows how the waterproofer installed the angle but has left gaps on the joint between it and the frame. A notification of non-compliance with the Australian Standard was issued to the builder for rectification. Intermittent stage inspections also ensure your home is being constructed correctly.
